The book looks closely at the state of knowledge on interstitial cystitis in the late 1980s, and examined what the editors had right and what they had wrong, how the field has progressed in the last 30 years, and how best to move it forward in the future. The chapters are not only updated for the reader to include modern diagnosis and management, but they will also examine how best to move forward knowing what scientists knew then, what they have learned since, and the most productive ways to spend future research funding. This book will be important to practicing clinicians who focus on interstitial cystitis or bladder pain syndrome, and the gynaecologists, general urologists, and primary care providers who see these patients as a part of their practice and is curious as to why they are managed as they are.
